Jaime DeFuria, Head Teacher

“Miss Jaime”, BFA Fine Arts, Published Author
Miss Jaime started her journey with art back when she was four years old, at Sailor Studio. She immediately became enthralled with their classes, and even won third place in their first ever children’s art show. When Sailor Studio disbanded, and the teachers all found a new home with the Center, Jaime came along as a student teacher while also continuing her own art education. She taught classes throughout her collage years at Georgian Court University, and became a full time teacher for the Center in 2009. She’s a master of all media, from pencils to oil paints, a published illustrator for several book covers, and a six-time published fantasy author. She currently teaches classes for middle schoolers and teens, as well as several weeks of our summer art camp program, as well as the Writer’s Workshop. All told, she has 25+ years experience teaching children and teens.

Cathy Marsh

“Miss Cathy”, BS and Masters in Special Education, LDT/C, Minor in Psychology and Art
Miss Cathy is our longest running and most experienced teacher, and it shows both in her skills and love for her students. With a background in special education, she’s worked in both public and private schools as a teacher, principal, and art teacher for special education students. She began teaching at Sailor Studio not long after her daughter, our very own Miss Jaime, started classes. When Sailor Studio’s teachers found a new home with the Center for the Arts, Cathy happily joined, where she’s taught a full schedule of classes for elementary and middle school students, specializing of course in special education needs and nerodiverse children. She is a master of many media, and has had several private and public gallery showings of her space themed oil paintings. All told, she has over forty years of experience teaching children and art.
